Stay Sharp with Advanced Flight Training
Earning a pilot certificate is a huge accomplishment, but it is not the end of training. In many ways, it is where some of the most valuable learning begins.
Once pilots move beyond the structure of initial training, flying becomes more personal. You start choosing new destinations, planning longer trips, navigating different airspace, and making more decisions on your own. That freedom is one of the best parts of flying, but it also makes continued training important.
Advanced flight training gives pilots a way to stay sharp, build confidence, and keep improving with purpose. It is not about adding pressure or making flying more complicated. It is about staying prepared for the kinds of real-world situations that come up outside of routine local flights.
The FAA’s WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program encourages pilots to train regularly with an instructor throughout the year, including in different seasons and flight conditions. Good pilots are always learning, whether they are practicing approaches, preparing for a checkride, or simply going out for a proficiency flight.
At Performance Flight, that same idea is built into a range of advanced training programs designed to help pilots keep growing after the basics.
Master Series
For pilots who want to explore new types of flying, the PF Master Series offers focused training in areas such as mountain flying, international operations, short-field operations, the Hudson River Corridor, and high-altitude operations.
These courses are built around real-world flying goals. Maybe you want to plan a cross-border trip, operate more confidently from shorter runways, fly through more complex airspace, or better understand how altitude, terrain, and weather affect your decisions. Each course gives pilots a structured way to build those skills with an experienced instructor.
Instrument Training
For many private pilots, earning an Instrument Rating is one of the most valuable next steps. It expands the usefulness of your certificate and helps you better manage weather, airspace, procedures, and longer cross-country planning.
Performance Flight’s Instrument Training is designed for today’s technically advanced aircraft, including the Cirrus SR20 and SR22 with Garmin Perspective Plus and Garmin 1000 flight displays. The program focuses on aircraft control, navigation, holding, instrument approaches, missed approaches, cross-country flight, and checkride preparation.
Just as importantly, pilots build confidence in the IFR system while developing stronger judgment, weather awareness, and aeronautical decision-making.
Cirrus Transition Training
For pilots moving into the Cirrus platform, transition training is an important part of learning how to operate the aircraft safely and confidently. Performance Flight is recognized by Cirrus Aircraft as a Platinum Training Partner, and its transition training follows Cirrus Aircraft and Cirrus Approach-approved courses.
Pilots can complete VFR or Advanced IFR transition training, moving through normal operations, maneuvers, special procedures, and abnormal and emergency procedures. The training is scenario-based and designed to help pilots improve risk management, single-pilot resource management, and overall confidence in the aircraft.
Jet Preparatory Training
For pilots looking toward turbine or jet operations, Performance Flight also offers Jet Preparatory Training. This program is designed to build the foundation needed for single-pilot jet operations and type rating preparation.
Training may include high-altitude aerodynamics, high-altitude physiology, turbine systems, Garmin avionics, and IFR skill development. It is a strong next step for pilots who want to understand what is required before moving into more advanced aircraft.
Currency and Proficiency Training
Advanced training does not always have to mean a new rating or a major transition. Sometimes the most important step is simply getting back into the aircraft with an instructor and rebuilding confidence.
Performance Flight offers currency and proficiency training, including Flight Reviews and Instrument Proficiency Checks. These programs can help pilots who have been away from flying, pilots who want a structured refresh, or experienced pilots who want to fine-tune specific skills.
Keep Learning. Keep Flying.
Whatever the goal, advanced training helps pilots become more thoughtful, capable, and confident. It helps define personal minimums, strengthen decision-making, and make better use of the aircraft’s capabilities without pushing beyond what is safe or comfortable.
That is the real value of continued training. It keeps flying active, intentional, and rewarding.
For pilots ready to take the next step, Performance Flight offers a range of advanced training programs to help you keep learning, explore new types of flying, and prepare for the next phase of your aviation journey.
