Fly-out: First Flight Airport / Wright Brothers Memorial on Tuesday, June 30

About the Event

Spend the day flying to one of the most meaningful destinations in aviation history: First Flight Airport in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. This group fly-out will bring Performance Flight pilots to the birthplace of aviation, with an opportunity to visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial, explore the museum, and see the reconstructed Wright Flyer.

Departing from KHPN, pilots will have the opportunity to build valuable real-world flying experience while practicing key skills in a longer cross-country environment. The route will include the Hudson River Corridor, giving participants a chance to experience one of the most iconic VFR routes in the Northeast before continuing south toward KFFA.

Upon arrival at First Flight Airport, pilots will put short-field operations into practice at a unique and historic destination. After landing, the group will have time to walk around the memorial grounds, visit the museum, and take in the place where powered flight first began.

This fly-out is part of the Performance Flight Masters Series and is designed to combine skill-building, confidence, and destination-based flying. From Hudson River Corridor procedures to short-field operations, this is a great opportunity to use the airplane for destination travel while sharpening practical pilot skills along the way.
